Near my place.

I like the lights on the Chinese restaurant, they look cheap but there’s just so many, it livens up this otherwise quiet crossroad.

While I was taking the pictures (it took me some time to get it right, and wait for the crossings’ lights to change), someone stopped to try and see what I was taking a picture of. The guy stayed there for maybe 2 or 3 whole minutes trying to figure it out until I was done and noticed him. I was surprised that someone would react like this in Tokyo, where interaction with complete strangers is rather limited, and it sort of confirms my feeling that a lot of japanese people are interested in photography.

Here’s a very useful link when you’re trying to figure out how to put your aircon on heating mode! It’s a life saver.

There’s also a list of toilet related vocabulary, which ought to be useful some day: http://www.neverland.to/kanji/list/toilet.html

And you’ll find pictures of common kanji found on rice cookers, aircon, or washing machine. This is great if you live here, but can also be useful if you don’t live in Japan but bought a japanese rice cooker.

Hey there everyone!

Well I’m back in Tokyo, after a 2 week trip to France for graduation, which actually turned into a 2 months wait for a visa, and there’s no gas (or hot water) in my apartment! and a letter saying that electricity will be cut as well if I don’t pay the bill.

Yay! I’m back! No, wait. I’m back but this time, to be honest, I don’t feel as hyped as I used to. I’m not sure how long I really want to be here and if it’s such a good idea, after all.

Well, it’s life, I guess. Thankfully I still have electricity (though it was supposed to be cut on the 18th?).

Anyway, there’s a huge pile of ~~mail~~ ads and bills waiting for me.

Unfortunately, even in Japan they are a little pricey so I will probably be selling the cases for $30-$35 a piece, depending on the price of yen in November.

I’m not exactly famous for my green fingers (or thumb). Actually I’m known in my family for killing even the toughest plants. This being said, I still love them, so I try to find compromises.

So here I present you with my latest find, these cute “Tiny² Plants”. On the box, it says “Let’s grow the plant with a very small jar”. Yes, let’s!!!

Inside, there’s dehydrated earth (or whatever) and seeds. I can’t really read the manual in japanese, but it seems easy enough… Good luck little plants! We’ll see which one ~~dies~~ grows first!

One more thing I bought (everything else is boring, well, in a japanese kind of way. Even the mop and the rubber gloves wrapping are full of smileys.) is this awesome dirty laundry basket! It comes with little plastic card that you put on the front, depending on what you plan on using it for (Toy box, Laundry, Clothes, etc.). Very practical and thoughtful!

Cost me around 20 euros, 2500 yen. I could have bought something cheaper, but… I think I need a few cute items in my apartment or it’s really going to look lame. (Plus, yesterday was payyydayyyy!!!!)

I also bought this delicious looking trash can (gomibako, hako = box, so i’m guessing that gomi means garbage).
Now I have a trash can telling me to eat fruits. I guess that’s… sweet. Cost me 100 yen so that’s 1 euro! Yay!!!! Hooray for cheap things! Victoryyyy.
